Imprompt U — Last updated: 19 June 2026
Short version: We collect the minimum data needed to run the app. We don’t sell your data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
1. Who We Are
Imprompt U (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a speaking practice app that helps you improve your impromptu speaking skills with AI-powered feedback. Our website is speakimpromptu.com and you can reach us at alex@speakimpromptu.com.
2. What Data We Collect
Account information
- Email address and display name when you create an account or sign in via Google or Apple.
- If you use the app without signing in, a temporary anonymous session is created with no identifying information.
Audio recordings
- When you complete a speaking challenge, your microphone audio is streamed to our speech-to-text providers (Deepgram or Microsoft Azure Speech) for real-time transcription. The resulting text transcript is then processed by Google Gemini AI to generate feedback scores and analysis.
- Audio is streamed in real time and is not stored permanently on our servers. The transcribed text and AI-generated analysis are stored in your session history.
- The app will always request explicit microphone permission before recording begins. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
Usage and progress data
- Challenge completions, scores, XP, streaks, badges, and zone progress.
- This data is stored in your account so your progress syncs across devices.
Payment information
- Web: Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe stores payment method data under their own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- iOS app: Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store are managed by Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but not your payment details. Apple’s privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Android app: Subscriptions purchased through the Google Play Store are managed by Google. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but not your payment details. Google’s privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.
Analytics and crash reporting
- PostHog: We use PostHog to understand how features are used (e.g. which challenges are popular, where users drop off). This data is pseudonymous. You can opt out in Settings → Privacy.
- Sentry: We use Sentry to capture errors and crash reports. These may include device type, OS version, and a stack trace. No audio or personal content is included in crash reports.
Device and technical information
- Device type, operating system version, and browser type, collected automatically for compatibility and debugging purposes.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To operate the app and deliver AI-generated speaking feedback.
- To save your progress, streaks, and achievements across sessions.
- To manage your subscription and billing.
- To send you optional push notifications (daily reminders, streak alerts). You can disable these in Settings.
- To improve the app through pseudonymous usage analytics (with your consent).
- To diagnose and fix bugs via crash reporting.
